When you walk around these markets, it smells so good and you want to try everything there is. It’s not possible because you can’t handle everything when you get older (sob), but we tried some food anyway and it was good.

First we tried was from Taste Of Poland and their Bigos, this dish is supposed to be a Polish hunter’s stew with fresh cabbage, pork sausage, herbs and spices, sauerkraut and tomato sauce. There was a lot of flavor from tomato sauce and cabbage in this dish so it was kind of to our liking.

The second stop was a visit to Southern Style Pulled Pork & Lamb. There we took a hamburger with pulled lamb meat in a brioche bread and coleslaw salad, caramelized vegetables, Mozzarella and BBQ sauce. This little burger didn’t taste much at all, There was very little meat in it so it tasted mostly of coleslaw. You have to look a bit before you order, as the food is very small portions and costs about SEK 140. We thought this hamburger was so-so.

Third place in tried food was Paëlla Espania. There we tried their seafood paella. My wife likes this dish very much. This paella was a variation from Malaga. This Paella had a lot of rice and mussels as well as squid. My wife thought it was tasteless. I thought it was ok as I liked clams and squid.

Now we came to Venezuelan Street food & Fusion. Here they sold arepas, which is a cornbread that is eaten a lot in South America. Here we ordered one called El Pernil from the 6 different ones they offered, This was a fried arepas with pork meat, chimichuri, guasacaca, butter, lettuce and cheese inside. As my wife is from Colombia, this place was number 1 for her. I can say that this arepas was the best thing at this whole festival. The arepas themselves were crispy as they were fried, the meat was juicy and tasty, the taste of the chimichurin and guasacaca were perfect for this and there was a little crunch from the salad and cheese. Guasacaca is an avocado mash.

As the place before was so good, we were hoping for more success at this festival, so the next place was Viltmat.se (I don’t know what their name is exactly as it only says Viltmat.se) What kind of advertising did they get now, so Viltmat, se, Ordered here we a kebab with venison. It was served in a warm bread with salad, meat and a homemade dressing. This kebab was the second best at this festival.

We made one last visit and then Antisan Chocolate & Nougat became an important stop as my wife is crazy about these things. Here she bought a few different things that I don’t know what they were.

By then our stomachs were full and we ate what we were interested in after a tour of the various stands. There were very nice staff who worked in the various stalls and you got good service.

  1. Det är ett utmärkt tillfälle att smaka på gatumat från andra länder, tillbringa en trevlig dag, dela med din familj eller vänner. Jag gillade verkligen detta evenemang i västerås och skulle gärna komma tillbaka nästa år också.
