I learned this liver stew from my grandmother, it has stuck with me all my life and I think it is just as good now as it was then about 35 years ago. When my grandmother made this, she only had liver, onions, bacon and cream and salt and pepper. Then I added the other ingredients. I use soy instead of salt, for example.
Ingredients
- 500g young beef liver
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 pack of bacon
- 200g mushrooms
- 3 dl cream
- 2 tbsp game stock
- 2 tbsp soy
- pepper
Do this
1. Peel and finely chop the onion, cut the bacon into strips and slice the mushrooms. Remove the liver from the package and cut the liver into bite-sized pieces.
2. Heat a frying pan and put a dollop of butter in it. Fry mushrooms, onions, bacon and liver until the liver has taken on colour. Pepper

3. Pour in the cream, stock and soy and let it boil for about 15 minutes on low heat. If you want the stew to be a little sweeter, you can add 1 tablespoon of currant jelly.
4, Serve the stew with rice
