Today was a taste trip to the Mediterranean with one of the most loved and iconic dishes – Moussaka. This amazing Greek dish is a symphony of flavors and textures that will seduce your taste buds and leave you wanting more. With its layers of eggplant, minced meat, tomato sauce and cheese sauce, Moussaka is a masterpiece in itself.
Moussaka is not only a good and satisfying dish, it is also rich in tradition and culture. It has a history that goes way back and each family may have their own unique recipe and secret ingredients. But let’s not wait any longer – here is my basic recipe for Moussaka that you can try and adapt to your own taste.
Ingredients
- 600g eggplant
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 yellow onions
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 400g minced meat
- 400g crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 2 crm ground cinnamon
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 cr black pepper
- 2 tbsp wheat flour
- 3 dl milk
- 2 dl grated cheese
- salt
- 1 egg
Do this
1, Set the oven to 225 degrees
2, Cut aubergine into centimeter-thick slices and place on kitchen paper. Sprinkle with salt.
3, Peel and chop the onion and garlic. Soft fry in butter in a frying pan.
4. Add the minced meat and fry while stirring so that it crumbles.
5, Add crushed tomatoes, tomato puree, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Let it boil for about 5 minutes.
6. Whisk the flour into half of the milk in a saucepan. pour in the rest of the milk and let it boil while whisking. Let the sauce boil for about 3 minutes. Stir in 1.5 dl of the cheese, salt and beaten egg.
7, Dry the aubergine slices and fry them in butter in a frying pan for about 1 minute/side
8, Alternate the minced meat sauce and aubergine slices in a greased ovenproof dish.
9, Pour over the sauce and sprinkle over the rest of the cheese.
10, Bake in the lower part of the oven for about 30 minutes
Serve this dish with a good salad
