We ate this salad in Thailand when we were there in September 2022. Here we make our own version of this salad which we thought was very good. I found half a papaya in the fridge that was going to spoil so this was it. Acidity, the taste of garlic and a little heat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 red chilies
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 2 limes
  • 2 tbsp peanuts
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 0.5 papaya
  • Carrot
  • 50g sugar snap peas
  • 0.5 yellow onion

Do this

1. Roughly chop the garlic and chilli and crush them well in a mortar

2, Add fish sauce, sugar and lime juice

3, Add peanuts and crush everything into a dressing.

4. Roughly chop the tomatoes. Peel and cut papaya and carrot into thin strips. Cut the sugar snap peas into smaller pieces and cut the onion into strips

5. Put papaya, tomatoes, carrot and sugar peas and onion on a plate or directly on a plate, pour over the dressing and mix gently.

You can have this salad with both meat and fish or as a dish in itself for lunch.
